The Monday Moan

No match report from me this week, as I didn't see the whole game. Other commitments unfortunately.
I did see the highlights of the game though.
Three main incidents in the game ultimately determined where the points went.
Firstly the Arteta headed goal should have been disallowed.
There was clearly a push on Davis as the ball came in. Stopping him jumping and leaving the way open for the goal. The referee had a clear view of it. Why he didn't blow for the foul? Only he can tell us.
Secondly the penalty incident.
Johnson was ahead of Davis, but Davis was catching him all the time. They brushed together ever so slightly and Johnson went down. The referee gave the penalty and sent Davis off.
Both ridiculous decisions!
I'm failrly certain it was never a penalty and I'm even more certain it did not deserve a red card.
Let us hope the FA see sense and rescind it this week.
Thirdly the Bromby non - penalty incident.
I don't think there is anyone anywhere who would not agree that Bromby was caught with a two footed challenge in the box.
Instead of doing a "Johnson" he remained on his feet and squared the ball to Webber whose shot was saved by Howard.
Did the referee bring the play back and award us a penalty, as happened for Liverpool against us? (even though morgan never actually touched Gerrard).
No, of course he didn't!
So three major decisions. All interpreted incorrectly by the referee.
These decisions cost us a point, possibly three.
I am sick and tired of inconsistent and incompetent refereeing.
Something has to be done and soon!
I advocate the use of technology to help the officials out.
A fourth official with a video monitor can easily make a more accurate decision and in mnay cases quick enough as not to disrupt the game. Lots of time is lost anyway with many controversial decisions as usually players complain to the referee and this is never cleared up instantly.
In this day and age it is frankly ridiculous that we have a means to make sure that decisions are correct and the powers that be will not utilise it. We are not talking about a kick about on a school field here. We are talking about a multi million industry and those points gained or lost by incorrect decisions can be make or break for many clubs, ours included.
The technology is there. Let's use it!
