Man City 0 Blades 0
The Blades started the game with exactly the same team that played against Middlesborough. Even the subs were the same.
First half was a lively affair with the Blades giving as good as they got. Hulse came closest to scoring with an athletic overhead kick which cannoned back off the crossbar with the City stand in keeper beaten.
Second half continued in much the same vein.
Lots of effort from both sides, but lacking that cutting edge in the last third of the pitch.
Tonge should have done better with a great chance from a pass from Hulse and Quinn came close with a searing effort over the bar after a flowing passing move from the Blades.
All in all, a good point.
Although, the nagging doubt remains, that with a bit more of an attacking formation in the second half, we could have brought home all 3 points.
Player ratings:
Kenny - 7/10 : Had little to do, but made one important save second half.
Bromby - 7/10 : Steady game. Made one outstanding tackle in
the penalty area.
Jags - 7/10 : Solid as usual. Rarely stretched.
Davis - 8/10 : Man of the match. he gets better with every
game.
Armstrong - 7/10 : Making that left back position his own now.
Gillespie - 6.5/10 : Steady, but nothing spectacular. Crossing
wasn't up to his usual standard.
Leigterwood - 7.5/10 : Arguably his best game for us.
Won most 50/50 balls in midfield.
Tenacious in the tackle and his passing'
was much improved.
Tonge - 5.5/10 : Poor game by his standards. misplaced
passes and looked low on confidence.
Quinn - 7/10 : The driving force behind most of our attacks.
Always looking for the ball. Has to play every
game at the moment.
Kazim-Richards - 5/10 : A bit of a Jeykle and Hyde player
lately. Great performance against
Boro followed by this poor show
against City.
Wanted too much time on the ball
and slowed the game down, when
we were looking to up the tempo.
Hulse - 7/10 : A little isolated at times, but still produced the
best chance of the game.
Subs:
Webber - 7/10 : Looked lively when he came on and should
start instead of Kazim next game (for me).
Preferably up front with Hulse.
